Providing Driveshaft Speed with Volvo CV Joint
The Volvo CV joint is the provider of consistent driveshaft speeds without paying regard to the operating angle of the joint. It is attached to each end of a driveshaft and is needed to transfer the torque at a constant speed to steer wheels and to accommodate the up and down suspension motions. Basically, you can find CV joints in the driveshaft of front-wheel drive vehicles. It comes in two varieties – the Rzeppa ball-type joints, which are found on the external end of the drive shaft.
The second type of CV joint is the tripod which is used on the inner end. Of these two, the former has more variations and they are mostly used on the inner side. Packed with grease, the CV joint is protected by either a rubber hose or plastic boot. The CV joint does not require meticulous maintenance provided that the protective boot is not damaged. When the protective boot gets damaged, the grease will start to come out and the moisture and dirt will come in. This will eventually cause the CV joint to disjoin and will subsequently stop the vehicle from running.
If the damage is detected earlier, by simply replacing the CV joint boot as well as the CV joint with fresh grease, the problem may not turn to worse hence replacement will not be needed early on. Normally, the initial indication of this problem is a clicking and popping noise during a turn. You can however avoid possible problems if you check the boot each time the wheels are removed from your car. Mind you, it is really risky to leave the CV joints unfixed.
Never take the risk for any reason. Get the trouble remedied the soonest possible! You can easily have your new Volvo CV joint and other steering suspension parts like Volvo ball joints and Volvo tie rods by simply browsing our catalog. Yes, you can get these products from us. Our ordering system never rests so you can always count on us every time you need to replace one of the parts of your driving machine.
