Radiator keeps Volvo rolling
To fully understand how your Volvo radiator works requires you to know the intricacies of the internal combustion engine. Since there are a number of functional parts in the engine system, there is always friction that is produced as these components work together. Now, this friction generates heat which is not overcome by the motor oil that is pumped throughout the engine block. As a result, the engine components start to boil hot as part of the normal operation.
At this point, the radiator does its job. You must understand however that this component is also supported by the Volvo radiator fan, Volvo radiator hose and other cooling system parts. With these, the radiator keeps the engine block relatively cool to prevent the problems like overheating and seizure. Antifreeze is a vital radiator element to achieve this goal. Note that because of extreme friction, the pistons may not slide freely and thus can snap and cause engine failure.
Now, the antifreeze mixed with water is pumped through the chambers in the engine block to absorb the excess heat and draw it away from vital areas. Via rubber hose, the superheated engine coolant returns back to the radiator as it exits the engine block. Know that the radiator is designed to maximize the surface area a significant number of internal folds and chambers. As the hot engine coolant moves through the nooks and crannies, the excess heat is drawn out through the walls of the radiator.
The radiator fan is used to force the cooler outside air through the radiator in order to accelerate the cooling process. Having such crucial task, you need to replace the radiator when the right time comes. Looking for quality Volvo radiator and other stuffs like the Volvo fun clutch, Volvo thermostat is easy nowadays.
